Overview

The Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign (UHVRC) is a nonprofit initiative created through a partnership between Merck Animal Health and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). The program provides qualifying equine rescue and retirement facilities with complimentary vaccines to improve horse health and increase adoptability. As part of a broader campaign initiative led by STEWART, I contributed to the design and front-end development of the UHVRC website, translating the campaign’s messaging into a clear, responsive digital experience.

The project involved designing structured layouts that communicated the program’s mission, educational resources, and impact stories while maintaining alignment with Merck Animal Health’s brand standards and visual system. Working within an established campaign framework, I helped shape a site experience that balanced informational clarity with a more engaging presentation of the organization’s purpose and outreach efforts. The interface was designed to support a range of audiences, including veterinarians, rescue organizations, and equine care professionals, while keeping the experience easy to navigate and visually consistent across the site.

My work included implementing responsive front-end components, organizing content for clarity and accessibility, and supporting visual storytelling elements used throughout the site. These included program statistics, adoption success stories, and vaccine education materials that helped communicate both the practical value and broader mission of the initiative. The site was structured to make this information easier to explore while maintaining a consistent and professional presentation across devices and screen sizes.

In addition to the original website experience, the platform was later updated with a 10-year anniversary experience celebrating a decade of UHVRC. That updated version built on the existing foundation while creating a refreshed presentation that recognized the campaign’s longevity, impact, and continued relevance. This helped extend the life of the platform while giving the anniversary milestone its own distinct sense of emphasis.

The resulting website presents the initiative’s mission and measurable impact through a cohesive digital experience that supports awareness, education, and outreach while evolving to mark an important milestone in the program’s history.
